thick yarns and threads which
are couched by machine.
Fall Landscape II
Petunias I is machine
appliqued using my hand dyed
fabrics and commercial
fabrics. The inspiration came
from a picture I took of
petunias growing outside my
studio door. The detail shows
the thread "painting" using
variegated threads.
Lake Ouachita
Lake Ouachita is designed
from my memory of family
picnics when I was a child. It
is machine pieced and quilted.
Lake Ouachita is one of my
journal quilts displayed at the
International Quilt Festival in
Houston and Chicago.
Serendipity II is machine pieced
and quilted. It is painted with
acrylic and fabric paint and heavily
embellished with beads and shells.
It was juried into the Sacred
Threads competition in 2007.
44 Equals Change is machine
appliqued, machine pieced
and quilted. I photographed
President elect Obama when
he was on television and used
Photoshop Elements to
change the photo before
printing it on fabric. 44 Equals
Change exhibited at the King
Street Gallery of The Morris
and Gwendolyn Cafritz
Foundation Arts Center of
Montgomery College, MD in
early 2009.
