| About the Artist: Vivian Milholen |
Biography:
Vivian is an art quilter currently living in Northern Virginia. While traveling with her
Air Force family across the country and the world, she began to take quilting
classes whenever the opportunity arose. She was intrigued with all the possible
designs that could be made cutting up fabric and sewing it back together.
A college class in photography enabled her to capture the love of nature that has
always inspired her. Vivian likes to combine both photography and quilting skills to
document some of nature's unexpected treasures.
Artist Statement:
"I love nature and the peace it brings me. I strive to capture a bit of each season
in my quilt making. I often take walks, either in the woods or on the beach, taking
pictures that I can later turn into quilted memories. It is my hope that the quilts I
make convey a bit of that captured moment in nature that is quickly gone with the
swoosh of the wind or erased by the tide of the ocean."
